Every year the Lake Highlands Junior Women’s League hosts Run the Highlands, a 5K USATF sanctioned race. This family-friendly event brings the Lake Highlands community together and supports our mission to give back. Join us this year and bring your local running group, friends, or family to participate in the 5K race or 1-mile Family Trail Walk! And be sure to stick around after the race for the Carnival!

The funds we raise are given directly back to Lake Highlands. This year, LHJWL will add a gateway sign and landscape enhancements that will welcome visitors to the Lake Highlands community.

RACE DAY DETAILS:

  • DATE: Saturday, April 12, 2025

  • LOCATION: Lake Highlands High School, 9449 Church Road, Dallas, TX 75238

  • TIMELINE:

    • 8:00 AM: Warm-up begins

    • 8:30 AM: 5K Race begins across from the Lake Highlands North Aquatic Center

    • 8:45 AM: 1 Mile Family Trail Walk begins

    • 9:00 AM-11:00 AM: Carnival

registration DETAILS:

  • Registration takes place via Race Roster

    • You are welcome to register or join an existing team

    • Youth discounts of $5 for 12 and under will be automatically applied at the end of your transaction

    • Groups of 4 or more in the same transaction will get $5 off each registration and will be automatically applied at the end of your transaction

    • The 5K race is a USATF Sanctioned Event

  • Packet pickup with all race day gear will be available, below:

    • Thursday, April 10th: 

      3:00 - 7:00 PM at Vector Brewing (9850 Walnut Hill Lane #405)

    • Friday, April 11th:

      2:00 - 6:00 PM at Vector Brewing (9850 Walnut Hill Lane #405)

    • Race Day - Saturday, April 12th:

      7:30 - 8:20 AM at the LHJWL Tent (near starting line)

 FAQs

  • The Lake Highlands Junior Women’s league, along with many other organizations and the City of Dallas Park and Recreation Department, will add a gateway sign and landscape enhancements that will welcome visitors to the Lake Highlands community. The project will both beautify the border of our community, and set Lake Highlands apart as a distinct and unique neighborhood of Dallas.

  • There is parking available in the neighborhoods surrounding the high school, in the main high school parking lot, and at the Lake Highlands Rec Center. Dallas Police Department will be on hand to assist in directing traffic.

  • Yes! You can create your own team via Race Roster or search to see if your team has already been created via “View Teams.”

  • Kids are welcome to join the family walk and the carnival after the official run concludes. There will be a petting zoo, bounce houses, face painting, and balloon artists.

  • After the run, stay and enjoy our Run the Highlands Carnival. The carnival will include booths sponsored by local businesses, a petting zoo, bounce houses, face painting, and balloon animals. The carnival will be located near the Lake Highlands Recreation Center.
